Poetry: “god in LOWERCASE.” by Hero Jason
Hero Jason has the remarkable ability to cut through the noise. He brings a refreshing honesty to spiritual practice, and even as his speaker struggles with their faith, it’s clear that Jason has tapped into a well of essential human truth, not only our mortality but also our insignificance. Rather than avoid these complex, nuanced, and frankly, upsetting concepts, Jason faces them head on, and brings a kind of irony but also a sincerity to this poem. In a small space, he does what some authors can’t do in an entire novel. Jason is fearless, and this skill will take him far and wide as a poet but also as a human being, and we can’t wait to see what his next moves are, what he does next.
god IN LOWERCASE.
one day,
i will
write a poem about
god in
lowercase,
just so he can taste
how small
he has always made
me feel.
