Gulf Coast
Gulf Coast is committed to supporting the authors who publish in our journal. This support takes many forms, including offering editorial guidance, exposing new work to the widest possible audience, and providing competitive honorariums for that work. Gulf Coast is now able to pay $50 per page! Please submit no more than 5 poems per submission. Submit here.

AWP Award Series
The Association of Writers & Writing Programs sponsors the Award Series, an annual competition for the publication of excellent new book-length works. The competition is open to all authors writing in English regardless of nationality or residence, and is available to published and unpublished authors alike. Prizes are available in book-length worth of creative nonfiction, poetry, fiction, short fiction; winners receive prize money and publication with a press. Submit your manuscript here.

Copper Nickel
Please submit four to six poems, and please wait at least six months between submissions. Copper Nickel pays $30 per printed page. They also award two $500 prizes per issue—the Editors’ Prizes in Poetry and Prose—for what they consider to be the most exciting work in each issue, as determined by a vote of our in-house editorial staff. Submit up to five poems here.

Lit Fest Fellowships For Emerging Writers
Lit Fest is a two-week celebration of the art and craft of writing, taking place annually in Denver, Colorado. The Lit Fest Fellowship for Emerging Writers covers the full cost of tuition for an advanced week-long or weekend workshop at Lit Fest. Lighthouse will be awarding four fellowships for Lit Fest 2020 to advanced writers of fiction, poetry, dramatic writing, and creative nonfiction who haven’t yet published a book-length work and who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a weeklong or weekend workshop. Sewanee Writers’ Conference
Offering workshops in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and playwriting, the Conference invites talented writers to come to Sewanee each summer to learn from each other in a welcoming and supportive environment. Fiction and nonfiction application manuscripts should be 20-40 pages. Poetry application manuscripts should be 10-15 pages. Contributors receive assistance covering two-thirds of the actual cost to attend. Apply here.

The Lucy Terry Prince Prize
Judged by Major Jackson, this anew ward from Mount Island is established to recognize and support exceptional work by rural poets of color and to honor the life of Lucy Terry Prince, a free, landowning Black woman in colonial America who is considered the first known African-American poet in English literature.
