The 2024 Nature & Place Prize Winners & Finalists!
It’s time to give a big congratulations to the winner of Frontier Poetry’s Nature & Place Prize, Zachary Scalzo. Their riveting poem, “Sometimes—there’s God—so quickly.,” was selected by our guest judge Flower Conroy. As always, the Frontier Poetry reading and editorial team was very moved and impressed with all of the wonderful and powerful submissions that we had the privilege of reading. We are so grateful for the support of our submitters, readers, and friends. And we’d like to extend a huge thank-you to Flower Conroy for being our guest judge and making the very difficult decision of deciding our three winners for the 2024 Nature & Place Prize.
Zachary Scalzo has been selected for the first-place $3,000 prize by Flower Conroy. Kiyoko Reidy was selected as the second-place winner and Rebekah Sankey as the third-place winner. We look forward to publishing the winners throughout the month of September!

Kiyoko Reidy is a writer from East Tennessee. Her writing has appeared in the Cincinnati Review, Palette Poetry, Four Way Review, and elsewhere. She currently lives in Colorado with her husband and their dogs.
Third Place
Rebekah Sankey
“The Pond, Early Spring”
Rebekah Sankey is a poet, vocalist, and educator; she holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her work has previously appeared in Barrelhouse Magazine. She lives north of Boston in Massachusetts.
